Bringing locals and musicians together to create a sense of community.

Porchfest is an annual grassroots music festival held on NDG’s balconies, lawns and stoops. Through a wide array of live music, the festival aims to bring together local musicians and neighbourhoods to celebrate and create a sense of community.

For their 6th annual festival, Porchfest reached out for help to create a visual identity that captures the energy and spirit of this flourishing community. With the festival expanding each year, the challenge was to create an identity that is inclusive and representative of the diversity of the community.

This project provided an opportunity to sharpen their visual language and create an identity that embodies the spirit of NDG. A series of playful characters were illustrated to reflect the values of diversity, community and inclusivity central to the festival's roots. Along with an expressive typeface, bold colours, and dynamic layouts this helped establish a strong visual presence for the festival and build stronger connections with the community.
